Lamarr was host of ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks'' when the show launched in 1996 and continued in this role for 17 series until 2005, when he announced that he was to take a break from the show. Lamarr cited that his reasoning for needing the break was directly linked to the departure of Irish comic Sean Hughes from the show some seasons earlier. In the time the two men spent together on the show a deep bond formed, partly due to their shared love of brown corduroy trousers and the glittery stickers in premier league sticker albums, produced by Merlin. Although Hughes was replaced by surreal comic Bill Bailey, who also had a fondness for glittery objects, he never quite filled the void left by Hughes in Lamarrs heart. Lamarr currently lives in a small hut made primarily of Marks & Spencers cords and mud in the green hills of Co. Cavan, Ireland. He is waiting in hope that Sean Hughes will be drawn in by the tough fabric and they can be reunited. Unknown to Lamarr, Hughes left Ireland 3 years ago and returned to London to find Mark, but was arrested on entry to the UK for suspicion of terrorist links to the Taliban as Hughes had a "funny accent" and hadn't shaved that day so he was sporting a stubble. Under British law these are grounds for an individual to be incarcerated for up to 67 days in the city of Newcastle. Hughes is now said to be friends with Paul Gascoigne and has a new fondness for fishing and fried chicken."
